Welcome to the Monday Movie Review with WANZIE and DOUG! |
|
Tune in to Real Radio 104.1 FM in Orlando every Monday afternoon around
5:15 PM to hear the boys discuss the movies. Smack dab in the
middle of Orlando's longest-running, extremely popular talk-radio show The
Philips Phile, the guys dish out the pink triangles,
talk about
what they liked or disliked, and tell you whether or not you should waste
your money on a ticket to see the movie of the week. OK,
who are we kidding. They do get around to talking about movies,
but you actually never know just what is going to come out of their
mouths once they get going.
It's worth listening in just to see if
WANZIE can manage to keep the FCC from throwing down a fine or two for
something that he's blurted out. After all, once they hit that
delay or bleep button, it takes a while to build it back up.
You'll be on pins and needles with the next edition of the Monday Movie Review with WANZIE and DOUG.
And be sure to tune into The Philip's Phile on Real Radio 104.1 FM,
Monday thru Friday from 3-7 PM.

If you don't reside in the Central Florida area, you can tune in to the
show on the Internet. Check out
The Philips Phile online here!
You can also catch delayed presentations of the show on XM satellite
radio (Extreme XM - Channel 152). It airs the entire show
three-hours later (6-10 PM). You can catch the guys on XM at
approximately 8:10 PM. |

Week of April 26, 2010 Review |

WANZIE
"This is a delightful film. You just have to get over
the fact that Chris Rock is not an actor. Danny Glover was
in the worst role of his life. How does a director get good
actors to be in a film that is pandering to what he thinks a
black audience wants to see. I laughed a lot but it doesn't
make it a good movie. There is a scene with poop in it that
I couldn't watch. It is worth renting to see James Marsten
on acid. He is perfect. "

 |
DOUG
"Apparently it is a remake of a British film. This is a
stinker. I laughed 8 times but it was NOT a good movie. Whew
it's bad. No one can act in it. Chris Rock is horrible.
Tracy Morgan is terrible." |

Week of April 19, 2010 Review |

WANZIE
"It's animated to look as real as possible. The minutia of
everything was so real. It has epic detail. There is a
story, but I don't like the message at the end that we need
a common enemy. I saw it in 3D. There is a story, the entire
Viking village is built around two things, eat food and slay
dragons. There is a cultural history of slaying dragons. The
Viking's son, forges a friendship with a dragon, learns that
it's just retaliation. George Bush could have benefitted
from seeing it before engaging war against Iraq"

DOUG
"I liked it a lot! It's really a sweet story, lots of
action. It's a great movie. It is visually beautiful. I can
only imagine it was better in 3-D. There are very few
red-headed heroes. Kid movie, but friend took a 5-year old
girl and was scared to death." |

WANZIE
"It is the perfect date movie. They are really good
together, that made me happy. Tina Fey and Steve
Carell are very much a couple. The relationship is palpable.
There is something for everyone. "

 |
DOUG
"It's funny. It has a heart, and it's a good movie. Within
ten minutes you really liked the couple. It's not going to
win any Oscars but it is two hours of enjoyment. It is a
good date movie. Tina Fey is a good actress. Go see this
movie." |

The Pink Triangles! |
|
It's all about the pink triangles
folks! Yes, every now and then the guys actually discuss
movies. And in doing so, they generally share what they liked or
didn't like about the movie, or even the movie-going experience.
We capture a few of those quotes here. But it really comes down
to the triangles. Here's what they represent: |
 |
Stinko. Not worth seeing under any
circumstances. |
  |
Below average. Not worth the cost of
admission plus the gas to get to the theater. Wait for it to come to
cable. |
   |
A competent, entertaining film. Nothing
extraordinary, but certainly worth the ticket price.
|
    |
Excellent.
Highly recommended. |
     |
A Classic! A must-see film that should absolutely
be experienced in a proper theater setting.
