Welcome to the Monday Movie Review with WANZIE and DOUG! |
|
Tune in to Real Radio 104.1 FM in Orlando every Monday afternoon around
5:15 PM to hear the boys discuss the movies. Smack dab in the
middle of Orlando's longest-running, extremely popular talk-radio show The
Philips Phile, the guys dish out the pink triangles,
talk about
what they liked or disliked, and tell you whether or not you should waste
your money on a ticket to see the movie of the week. OK,
who are we kidding. They do get around to talking about movies,
but you actually never know just what is going to come out of their
mouths once they get going.
It's worth listening in just to see if
WANZIE can manage to keep the FCC from throwing down a fine or two for
something that he's blurted out. After all, once they hit that
delay or bleep button, it takes a while to build it back up.
You'll be on pins and needles with the next edition of the Monday Movie Review with WANZIE and DOUG.
And be sure to tune into The Philip's Phile on Real Radio 104.1 FM,
Monday thru Friday from 3-7 PM.

If you don't reside in the Central Florida area, you can tune in to the
show on the Internet. Check out
The Philips Phile online here!
You can also catch delayed presentations of the show on XM satellite
radio (Extreme XM - Channel 152). It airs the entire show
three-hours later (6-10 PM). You can catch the guys on XM at
approximately 8:10 PM. |

Week of January 25, 2010 Review |

WANZIE
"To say anything about this movie spoils it. There are
several plot twists. I loved it loved it loved it. It is
just brilliant. I can't say enough about it. If their the
type of hetero that would go to the Enzian to see anything,
they will like this movie. It is one of the best movies I
have seen."
|
|
DOUG
"First movie by Tom Ford. Very stylized story about a
gay man who loses his lover and what happened afterwards. I
enjoyed Julianne Moore. Beautifully beautifully filmed. Lots
of plot twists. Not life changing. Well written. Great
movie, but not the best I have seen." |

WANZIE
Wanzie
couldn't make this week's Monday Movie Review because he
locked someone else's keys in the car that he was driving to
the studio somewhere near Walt Disney World.

DOUG
"Michael Cera is really good at playing geeky and charming.
I saw it because it was what was playing in between shows at
Sleuth's. The story is about a young man and a girl
and his parent and comedy ensues - not really. Don't
see it!" |

Week of January 11, 2010 Review |

WANZIE
"The world has gone
crazy. I did not get it at all. It is very slick from a
movie making standpoint, it's well written but it is not a
happy ending. It's a really decent film. This movie will
smack you in the face with the reality of our times. You'll
go home and want to slit your wrists. I went to see the
movie with Shayna, I told her that I'm excited to see it
because of all the hype and she says "People like to carry
on, Wanzie. It's like putting someone in a room with a
propensity for suicide with a razor blade. It will put you
over the edge if you're looking for a job. I heard somewhere
that this has been 2 years in the can"
|
 |
DOUG
"Depressing.
George Clooney is just smarmy. It's the perfect movie of our
time. The leads are perfectly cast. This movie isn't going
to change your life but it will break your heart. It all
falls apart at the end and comes crashing down. I'm not gay,
I have a penis fetish" |

WANZIE
"It's a musical. Everyone
is in this movie. Daniel Day Lewis is brilliant in it. If
you know nothing about the Broadway musical on which it is
based, I would think most people would think this is a
fabulous movie. The filmmaker Rob Marshall, is wonderful.
Half the movie was made in the editing bay. The act of
making this movie is mind boggling; it is astonishing to
watch. I would see it again. I would give it 5 triangles for
being beautiful to look at. However, the story of the
Broadway play is lost in the presentation."
|
 |
DOUG
"It's
nice to watch but I left feeling empty. The musical numbers
are great! It was more of a movie that had music than a
musical. Daniel Day Lewis is not a likable character. There
is not an ounce of character development in this movie." |

The Pink Triangles! |
|
It's all about the pink triangles
folks! Yes, every now and then the guys actually discuss
movies. And in doing so, they generally share what they liked or
didn't like about the movie, or even the movie-going experience.
We capture a few of those quotes here. But it really comes down
to the triangles. Here's what they represent: |
 |
Stinko. Not worth seeing under any
circumstances. |
  |
Below average. Not worth the cost of
admission plus the gas to get to the theater. Wait for it to come to
cable. |
   |
A competent, entertaining film. Nothing
extraordinary, but certainly worth the ticket price.
|
    |
Excellent.
Highly recommended. |
     |
A Classic! A must-see film that should absolutely
be experienced in a proper theater setting.
