Welcome to the Monday Movie Review with WANZIE and DOUG! |
|
Tune in to Real Radio 104.1 FM in Orlando every Monday afternoon around
5:15 PM to hear the boys discuss the movies. Smack dab in the
middle of Orlando's longest-running, extremely popular talk-radio show The
Philips Phile, the guys dish out the pink triangles,
talk about
what they liked or disliked, and tell you whether or not you should waste
your money on a ticket to see the movie of the week. OK,
who are we kidding. They do get around to talking about movies,
but you actually never know just what is going to come out of their
mouths once they get going.
It's worth listening in just to see if
WANZIE can manage to keep the FCC from throwing down a fine or two for
something that he's blurted out. After all, once they hit that
delay or bleep button, it takes a while to build it back up.
You'll be on pins and needles with the next edition of the Monday Movie Review with WANZIE and DOUG.
And be sure to tune into The Philip's Phile on Real Radio 104.1 FM,
Monday thru Friday from 3-7 PM.

If you don't reside in the Central Florida area, you can tune in to the
show on the Internet. Check out
The Philips Phile online here!
You can also catch delayed presentations of the show on XM satellite
radio (Extreme XM - Channel 152). It airs the entire show
three-hours later (6-10 PM). You can catch the guys on XM at
approximately 8:10 PM. |

WANZIE
"It is gritty and realistic to
a T. It is very hard to watch. It gets worse and ends with a
problem being piled on top of a problem, but it's a problem
Precious gladly accepts to get rid of her mother. Mo'Nique
the mother, will very likely win the Academy Award.
The range of emotions that she goes through is amazing. They
don't show you anything, it's not like they're pandering to
the sensationalism of the rape. With a little bit of
editing, you would believe this is a documentary. It's that
good. Mariah Carey is unbelievably good"

DOUG
"I
didn't love it or hate it. It's tough to watch. It's pretty
depressing. In the last 20 minutes it gets worse. I predict
Monique will likely win the Academy Award for best
supporting actor. They do do a few scenes where she's with
her friends and they show her as nice. This is one of a
million stories" |

WANZIE
"The movie was great,
with a stellar performance by Sandra Bullock, whose
accent was flawless and sassy like the woman she was
playing. Guys are going to have to deal with that it's
about an hour before the football starts, but everyone in the
theater loved it. Love the little boy who takes this black
man under his wing and help coach him and with social
graces. A good family movie with no in appropriate
scenes that may be the best movie of the year."

|
DOUG
"True
story about Michael Orr who comes from the projects and
Sandra Bullock's character takes him in. She could get
nominated for an Oscar in this role. She is the one
person that I've admitted has gotten better over the years.
It's really good. I cried like 8 times. Best
movie I've seen this year. I'd sit through it again
tomorrow. Loved it!" |

WANZIE
"Quite possible one of
the worst movies I have ever seen. I can't even grasp the
fact that at some point they didn't think this is just
horrible. I just wanted to strangle the director. The whole
premise of the movie was blown by what happened. I came out
thinking I had been in the movie for 3 1/2 hours. It is 2
hours of your life you will never get back. If you watched
this movie at home...you would turn it off. This movie is
not worth seeing under any circumstances!"
Note: Michael fell asleep for
so long that his friend convinced him that there was a naked
scene |

DOUG
Didn't see a movie because he was under the weather.
"Eyes Wide Shut was the worst movie I've ever seen" |

WANZIE
"I absolutely loved it.
It has one of the best scripts to come along. You have to
have the belief that psychic ability exists. It was just so
funny. Jeff Bridges was brilliant. I loved the fact that at
the beginning it said this movie is based on fact. At the
end of the movie it said More of this movie was true than
you would like to think. It was delightful. It was so
crazy." |
 |
DOUG
"Lots
of funny stuff all of which is shown in the previews. It
goes no where. It was awful. There was funny stuff I'll give
it that. Clooney was just smarmy. Ewan MacGregor was
certainly .... cute. He was dreamy. Jeff Bridges was funny.
I made my reviews just as interesting as I could." |

WANZIE
"I had mixed emotions
about this film. It was very nerve racking. There was so
much that happened that you had to accept and get over.
Anyone who was involved with this miscarriage of justice is
getting killed while he's in jail. All you need to know is
that it's someone that does bad things to keep us safe in
this country. It's
a renter." |
 |
DOUG
"It
was so so good! It put me on the edge of my seat! I enjoyed
it. Good eye candy. Jamie Fox was smarmy. Much better than
Amelia!" |

The Pink Triangles! |
|
It's all about the pink triangles
folks! Yes, every now and then the guys actually discuss
movies. And in doing so, they generally share what they liked or
didn't like about the movie, or even the movie-going experience.
We capture a few of those quotes here. But it really comes down
to the triangles. Here's what they represent: |
 |
Stinko. Not worth seeing under any
circumstances. |
  |
Below average. Not worth the cost of
admission plus the gas to get to the theater. Wait for it to come to
cable. |
   |
A competent, entertaining film. Nothing
extraordinary, but certainly worth the ticket price.
|
    |
Excellent.
Highly recommended. |
     |
A Classic! A must-see film that should absolutely
be experienced in a proper theater setting.
