Dear Fan, |
|
"Waiting for the
fish to bite, or waiting for wind to fly
a kite. Or waiting around for Friday
night, or waiting, perhaps, for their
Uncle Jake, or a pot to boil, or a
better break, or a string of pearl, or a
pair of pants, or a wig with curls, or
another chance. Everyone is just
waiting."
So wrote the good
and glorious Dr. Seuss. His
intention, we feel certain, was to
illustrate how quickly life can and does
pass one by while one is waiting rather
than living.
It has been said
that every man dies, but that not every
man truly lives.
Our friend
Terry Newby lived life with great
gusto. He gave 100% to his students who
all adored him. He was a great audience,
and when he wasn't in a show, he was
likely watching one, or supporting the
efforts of others onstage through
volunteerism. He saw the world through
happy, hope-filled eyes, and shared what
he saw through the lens of his camera.
He loved live performances, and so he
attended all manner of performing arts,
from theater to comedy shows at Pleasure
Island, and did so often. He loved
travel, and so he traveled. He loved
music, and so he sang. He loved, and so
he married.
If there is solace
to be taken in light of Terry's passing,
it is that those who knew him know well
how fully Terry lived.
So we take this
occasion to remind you (in the words of
Zachary Scott); "As you grow
older, you'll find the only things you
regret are the things you didn't do."
Do something today
that you've been meaning to do, but just
haven't gotten around to doing as of
yet. Do something fun, frivolous,
spontaneous, even joyous - in memory of
Terry Newby.
Get out and spend
the day well, because even though
tomorrow you may still remain, today
will not.
Have a great day!

THEATER - Annie
Theatre Downtown production of the
effervescent Broadway musical, based on
Little Orphan Annie, that spawned the
song we love to hate and can't help
humming - "Tomorrow." This Strouse/Charnin
musical first starred Andrea McArdle
in the title role, who was later
replaced by none other than Sarah
Jessica Parker. This bouncy,
delightful musical full of hope and
optimism is perfect summer fare.

A Note From Wanzie:
|
We had our first read-through of
FUDDY MEERS on Tuesday, and I am
so psyched about this wonderful cast:
Lori McCaskill, Kevin Bee, Josh Paul,
James "Boomer" Pieta, Monique Byrnes,
Tony Dietterick, and Peg Okeef!
It's going to be a fun ride to opening
night in August.
I intend to have lots of fun tomorrow
night as well, and hope you will join me
and the entire WANZeGRAM staff for
Twisted Sisters Presents CHEW & VIEW at
8 PM in the Footlight Theatre; FREE
EATS!
I must say I'm a little disappointed in
our faithful subscribers as of late. We
haven't had a good MY TWO CENTS
submission in weeks, and the mail bag,
as well as the SHORT TAKES
section, have fallen short of the usual
influx.
I guess I'll chalk it up to the beach
weather and extended theme park
operating hours.
I do want to entreat you all to
participate in the Gram rather than only
reading it. Here are some options for
your consideration:
Do you know of an event you might like
to see listed? Send us the info.
Do you have a strong opinion on a timely
topic? Submit your rant or rave or
commentary, in article form, for our
consideration for inclusion in our MY
TWO CENTS section.
Is someone celebrating a birthday,
anniversary, or other noteworthy
occasion? Utilize our SHORT TAKES
section to send them a public
acknowledgement. You may also use this
section simply to vent, share a favorite
quote, share a philosophy, or just to
make us laugh.
Have you taken issue with something we
have published in the Gram, or with some
opinion I or other staff members may
have expressed herein? - Then write in
and let us know so. We happily post our
incoming mail - both positive and
negative - in our WE'VE GOT MAIL
Section.
More importantly, the invitation to
become a WANZeGRAM Field Reporter
is open to all. If you'd like to cover a
Theme Park, or report on the goings-on
in a certain green room, or within a
political organization or charity, we at
the WANZeGRAM would love to include you
as a guest contributor from time to
time. Just email me and let me know your
area of interest.
We'd love to have contributors from
other states. Let us know what's going
on in your little corner of the world.
Are you a cartoonist in search of an
outlet for your comics or political
satire? The WANZeGRAM offers you the
chance to have your work published and
appreciated. Any and all submissions
will be gratefully considered.
And last but not least, we have great
advertising opportunities available to
you to promote a show, or to advertise a
business or service to our savvy target
market subscription base. Just click on
the link below to access our broad
range of affordable promotions and
rates:

It's your GRAM, too.
The more you put into it, the more
you'll get out of it.
