President
William Jefferson Clinton spoke at the University of Central Florida and once again Official WANZeGRAM
staff photographer Margo Dixon, couldn’t be bothered to take the
pictures herself because she was too busy introducing the her new pal -
![]() Yes, our own Margo Dixon who, as a result of her tireless work with Orlando TEAM HILLARY, was on the fast track toward becoming the official embroiderer to the Clinton Administration White House. But those hopes were dashed when Obama won the Democratic primary. Understanding the gargantuan differences between McCain and Obama as well as the stark contrasts of the two parties’ platforms, and seeing right through this ridiculous choice of Sarah Palin as the Republican Vice Presidential nominee, Margo and her husband Jack have thrown the full weight of their support and energies behind helping the Obama campaign. So has President Clinton. ![]() ![]() All photos courtesy Jack and Margo Dixon (well, mostly) Official photographers of the WANZeGRAM

After the rally, the parade, and the show at Lake Eola Park, it’s party time at PH: NO COVERWhile down at the Pride events be sure to visit the Gay History Exhibit. Featured this year is the evolution of the Parliament House, from mainstream motor inn to gay resort and time share. The history exhibit will be located in the air conditioned top tent in Lake Eola Park, not far from the band-shell. The PH portion of the exhibit will be transferred to the Parliament House for the remainder of Gay History Month. Also pick up a Come Out With Parade Program and read the wonderful tribute to Don Granastein and Susan Unger. It was they who made a jump-start donation of $10,000 in support of MBA’s goal of rescuing the fledgling Orlando Pride Parade and moving it from sweltering hot June (prone to afternoon showers) to the more weather-friendly October to occur in conjunction with National Gay History Month, and National Come Out Day (Oct. 11th). ------------------- advertisement ------------------------ You DON'T want to go here:

In addition to welcoming those who are attending Come Out with Pride, our dignitaries and special guests will also speak to their opposition on Amendment 2 and speak out against hate crimes to our community and beyond. In addition, as October 12th is the 10-year anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard, there will be a solemn yet powerful appearance by the mothers of recent hate crimes, who will offer uplifting words of encouragement and solidarity. The Orlando Gay Chorus will also deliver a special performance just for Come Out with Pride. This will truly be a historic moment in Orlando’s history that is not to be missed. The Opening Ceremonies and “Vote with Pride” Rally Program begins at 1:00 PM, October 12th at the Lake Eola Amphitheater. We
are also very pleased to announce the coming out of our new Pride
Parade Mascot - LOLA From Lake Eola: The Diva Swan!
Lola, like all
snowbirds, came to the City Beautiful to escape the bitter cold and to
embrace a new attitude. She soon realized that the local GLBT community
was exactly the colorful and diverse group of soul mates she was
looking for to really show off her sequined feathers! Lola will make
her official debut on stage at the Opening Ceremonies on October 12th,
followed by an appearance in the parade and in the post-parade show.
(Rumor has it she may come dressed as Miss Sammy at the "Return to Big
Bang" Kickoff Party on October 9th at Hamburger Mary's) Very
special thanks go to D-Squared Productions for her appearances
and overall celebrity handling, and to Peter and Frank at What's
Happening Orlando for their dazzling concept.Come Out with Pride 2008 is on track to again break local records for a pride event! With an expected 70 parade entries, with over 1,000 participants and over 30,000 expected spectators – Orlando is fast becoming one of the largest and most talked about pride celebrations in Florida! Our parade emcees, WANZIEandDOUG, will be calling the action from the “One Mighty Party” emcee booth on Rosalind Street at the Main Entrance of Lake Eola Park. As this is the widest section of the parade route (and easiest access to the bars!) make sure to stake your spot and listen in on the fun! In addition, 2008 marks the 30th anniversary of the Gay Pride Flag. As the Pride Flag closes the parade, please consider putting a donation in the flag as "Be Real" has been named as the 2008 Pride Parade beneficiary, as part of the Pride Gives Back program. Learn more about Be Real’s services for GLBT youth and their families at www.berealorlando.org. Experience Orlando ’s Gay past and milestones: Central Florida GLBT History Exhibit One of the unique elements of Come Out with Pride 2008 is the History Exhibit, which helps celebrate October as National Gay & Lesbian History Month. Thanks to the generous support of Darden Restaurants, the 2008 exhibit is bigger and better than ever – and presented in an air-conditioned tent! Come by, cool off, and take a trip down memory lane. The exhibit will be open from 12:00 – 8:00 PM on October 12th. At 5:00 PM make sure to be at the Lake Eola Amphitheatre for a spectacular show followed by two free concerts. First up, is a locally produced show, “Hooray for Hollywood”, featuring some of the areas best stage talent. This is followed by Pop/R&B/Latin sensation, Lisa Lisa performing her greatest hits, including “I Wonder if I Take you Home”, “Lost in Emotion”, “Head to Toe”, and “Let the Beat Hit ‘Em.” Once again, Universal Orlando Resort and Bright House Networks have teamed up for an amazing finale at Come Out with Pride. This year, they are bringing Dance Diva, and now all-time Dance #1 Singles Diva, Kristine W for a very special show to close the event and send us dancing out into the night. See
you at Come Out with Pride 2008!
